Co-creative and material-driven exploration of the sensorial and experiential potential of mycomaterials for (interior) architecture.
This project explores the design potential of mycelium-based materials through the lens of human perception. Mycelium, the root-like network of fungi, grows by binding organic matter into a lightweight, fully biodegradable material. Through biofabrication, this natural process is guided within designed molds and controlled conditions, allowing materials to be grown rather than conventionally manufactured. This approach reflects the growing interest in mycelium-based materials within architecture and design, driven by their unique aesthetic qualities and sustainable potential.
