POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE
from artisanship towards innovation, exploring regenerative materials and design solutions and creating a place for the community to meet ... the focus of this edition is Building Beyond Bricks
In the postgraduate certificate, we explore regenerative and distributive ways of building. This bi-annual learn-and-act programme is open to graduates and professionals who want to become a change-maker in the built environment.
The programme unravels in four modules: Theory & Reflect sessions, Hands-on atelier, Research & Design studio and Building project. Supported by academic knowledge and insights from practice in regenerative and distributive solutions for our built environment, participants take up the role of designer, manager of a building community, coordinator of participatory processes or hands-on construction workshops, and developer or producer of new building materials.
Building upon academic knowledge of co-creation and participatory processes, the participants concretize their role in designing and realizing a real-life project while collaborating with local stakeholders, craftsmen, multidisciplinary experts and professionals.
Every bi-annual postgraduate programme has a unique focus. In the intermediate year, we reflect upon the past topic and realization in our international fall symposium. In doing so, exemplary built interventions and related research will contribute not only to the participants’ personal development but also to science and society from a broader perspective.
The postgraduate certificate is a comprehensive 30 ECTS program. In addition to weekly one-day classroom sessions, the curriculum includes 3-day and 5-day workshop weeks organized throughout the year. To fully immerse yourself in this intensive journey, you'll need to dedicate at least one additional day per week. The program also includes a minimum four-week construction site internship.
The postgraduate programme is supported by UHasselt's School of Expert Education (SEE)
